Plunder Complaint Filed vs VP Binay And Son

By: Rahel U
MANILA, Philippines – Vice President Jejomar Binay and his son Mayor Junjun Binay received plunder complaint that was filed by the two former barangay chairmen of Makati City.
Renato Bondal, who stands as the lawyer of former barangay chairman of Palanan and Nicolas Enciso VI, ex-barangay chief of Olimpia, sued in their complaint that the New Makati City parking building was overpriced by P1.3 billion from its actual cost P245.5 million. But the final price of the contract was fixed at P1.56 billion.
The construction of the 11-storey building sited along F. Zobel Street, Poblacion, Makati City, was started in 2007 and financed through the first appropriation ordinance which was  said to be  the project approved by the Vice president.
Moreover, Binay's son, Junjun Binay along with the members of the city council, approved six addition appropriation ordinances for the construction of the building, having the worth of P1.160 billion.
"This parking building has become the most expensive parking building in the country, if not the entire world, and the Binays and the other respondents, should be held responsible for this act of wanton misuse and plunder of public funds,"  the complainants said.
Last 2013, the project was turned over to the local city government of Makati.
Aside from the Binays, Commission on Audit resident Auditor Cecile Cag-anan was questioned  for  ailing to exercise her sworn obligation to protect the city treasury of Makati from  any corruption of misuse of funds.
