16-foot crocodile caught in Palawan

After Lolong was captured last year, another big crocodile measuring over 16 feet was caught in Palaway by  residents of Sitio Marabahay, Barangay Rio Tuba in Bataraza.

According to the report, the residents were frightened when they heard strange and sounds something smashing underneath beside heir houses at around 1 a.m. on Wednesday  July 30.

Upon checking the alarming sound, they just found out that it was a noise made by a huge crocodile. The crocodile was trapped in a mangrove tree and was then subdued with a rope used by nearby residents.

There were at least 6 people who worked together to catch the huge and scary crocodile. The crocodile measured 16.3 feet and it is almost twice the size of “Malang,” the formerly 7.9-foot crocodile caught in Cotabato last April but freed back into the wild of Liguasan.
Yet, it’s still 4 feet smaller than "Lolong," the record-making crocodile caught in Agusan del Sur. Long who o measured 20.24 feet yet died after five months after he was captured.

Temporarily, the newly caught crocodile has been turned over to the Palawan Wildlife Rescue and Conservation Center in  Puerto Princesa City.
