MANILA – Japan announced to remain its ground open for OFWs as they continue to expand companies in the Philippines. The Philippine manpower which have been providing the Western countries with highly skilled and motivated workers, are highly considered by Japanese companies which are now tapping more into the potential of Filipino engineers and technicians.
Recently, Japanese manufacturers are endorsing Filipino engineers to work as worldwide leaders as they build up their "mother factories" in the Philippines. Japan’s mother factories are accountable for the design of the product and for regulating production conditions.
Tsuneishi Shipbuilding Chief Director Kenji Kawano said the aim is to advance Tsuneishi Heavy Industries (THI) into one of the world's mother factories, and to pass its expertise to Filipino workers.
Kawano said the company is sending Filipino hires to Tsuneishi Shipbuilding, a core company of Tsuneishi group, in Fukuyama. The goal is for them to be trained in Japanese craftsmanship which eventually promotes engineers from Cebu as instructors in Tsuneishi factories around the world.
Meanwhile, Toyota Motor is already employing Filipino workers for global assignment to address surging demand for automobiles. Toyota Motor Philippines, a local unit of the Japanese automobile giant, with its Toyota Motor Philippines School of Technology in Santa Rosa, Laguna, aimed at preparing Filipino technicians for work in the Japanese carmakers' factories there and abroad through its two-year program in automobile expertise.
