Vice President
Jejomar C. Binay, is believed to be a strong candidate for the 2016
presidential elections according to surveys.
However, to be his next running mate, Binay thinks that former President
Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada will not likely run against him in 2016. (You know, I cannot think of it), Binay said
in an interview with ABS-CBN’s “Tapatan ni Tunying”.
Last
2010, Binay was Estrada’s vice presidential running mate in the presidential
elections. Estrada lost to then candidate, Senator Benigno S. Aquino III, while
Binay pulled off an upset against, Manuel “Mar” Roxas II.
Estrada’s
answer regarding Binay’s statement is he
would only run for president in 2016 if Binay becomes the administration
candidate. Yet Binay said in a former interview, that he will not run for the president under
administration as he will not abandon the opposition.
Seeing
that nothing is impossible in the world of politics, Binay also proposed the idea of an alliance being
formed between the administration’s Liberal Party and the opposition for the
2016 election.
Meanwhile Estrada’s son, Senator Jinggoy
Estrada is believed to be the next Binay’s running mate in 2016. Binay,
however, responded that is not selecting
a running mate yet so as not to make enemies this early.
Binay
has also postponed the launch of his new political party to the first quarter
of next year.
