MANILA, Philippines —“Another two sealift vessel to be
delivered to Philippines on January”, this has been confirmed by the Indonesian
shipbuilder PT PAL on Friday. Indonesian and Philippines government has
already signed the contract to supply
two strategic sealifts vessel to the Philippine Navy.
IHS Jane’s which is a British defense publication reported,
PT PAL’s executive officer Edy Andarto
said the Philippine government approved its contract worth of $92
million for the vessels to deliver. PT PAL offered to supply the two ships
for $86,980,000 or about P3.864 billion and the delivery will start next year.
Nine of the war
bidders companies from all over the world bought bid documents but PT PAL firm won the bidding and was the only bidder
left for the auction process.
The strategic sealift vessels which also known as landing
platform docks and it can be useful for civil-military operations as it can be able to transporting a large
number of soldiers, logistics and war gears
and military supplies. Each of the vessels can also transport three helicopters
at a time.
The strategic sealift vessels acquisition project leads the list of 18 priority projects under the
modernization program for the armed forces of the Philippines.
