2 NPA rebels killed in Agusan clash

MANILA, Philippines (Xinhua) – As the latest update regarding Philippine Military and NPA encounter, one of the military officials said in a report that two alleged insurgents were killed in a clash against pursuing government troops in the southern Philippine before today.
Maj. Gen. Ricardo Visaya, commander of the Philippine Army's 4th Infantry Division, said  that the latest encounter took this morning where  20 members of NPA rebels were caught by security forces of the Philippines in Binicalan village, San Luis town in Agusan del Sur province at around 11 a.m. today.

At the end of gun battle, the Philippine military has recovered the bodies of the suspected leftist rebels and their firearms such as eight high-powered firearms-four AK47 rifles, two M16 rifles, an M203 grenade launcher and an AR15 rifle. Meanwhile, no one was reportedly wounded or killed on the government troops.
Visaya said government troops have been chasing the rebels in Binicalan village since two days ago. He said soldiers were sent to the village after residents reported about the rebels’ extortion activities in the area.
