BEIJING- The Chinese
government sought their willingness to create ties with Vietnam as China's
President Xi Jinping told a special envoy from Vietnam that China and Vietnam
should deter hostility and be "friendly to each other," Xinhua news
agency said.
The first sign of a
concerted effort to heal the rift between the two countries, which share annual
trade worth $50 billion is on the visit to Beijing by Hong Anh, a member of the
Vietnamese Communist Party's powerful politburo.
"(I) hope the
Vietnamese will make joint efforts with the Chinese to put the bilateral
relationship back on the track of development," Le Hong Anh said.
As quoted by Xinhua, a
member of the China's elite Politburo Standing Committee, Lin Yunshan, telling
the visitor that both sides should bring bilateral relations back on track.
Xinhua said that it was
started under an agreement that Liu and the visitor has reached, that both
countries will earnestly implement a basic guideline for the resolution of
China-Vietnamese maritime issues signed in October 2011.
China and Vietnamese
agreed to possibly seek lasting solutions including the studying of joint
exploration to avoid disputes between both sides.
