MANILA, Philippines—All comedians play funny roles on stage, but not all of them are funny in reality.

Jobert Austria, a 42-year-old comedian of ABS-CBN and a mainstay of weekend gag show “Banana Nite,” is currently  facing police complaints as  attempted to jump off from a hotel on Saturday.

Based on a report of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) headquarters on Sunday, Austria is being held accountable for alarm and scandal as well as illegal drug use.

On Saturday, at around 12:56 p.m. a yelling Austria had to be pulled in from the edge of the sixth floor of a Sogo hotel branch located on Quezon Avenue corner Roces Avenue in Barangay (village) Paligsahan. Responding firemen and  barangay (village) public safety officers were called by the hotel where they  had to pull Austria and get him back into his room.

It was still a question why Austria was renting a room when he is known as a resident of Victoria Towers condominium on Panay Avenue in the same barangay. In a separate report, it was said that Austria was attempting suicide after he received a death threat from his girlfriend’s former boyfriend.

There was also a  sachet of suspected “shabu” recovered from Austria’s rented hotel room, when the SOGO manager and two of Austria’s friends responded to the turmoil. The head of
the QCPD Anti-Illegal Drugs Unit, Senior Insp. Roberto Razon, said  in a phone interview that the comedian seemed disparate and was on illegal drugs.

Police detained Austria as he left the hotel while he was  accompanied by friends at around 3 p.m. The comedian was then turned over to a rehabilitation center after the incident happened.
