Senate’s resumption of the probe in Makati overpriced

MANILA, Philippines - The Senate resumed its investigation into the alleged overpriced parking building in Makati City Hall II with which Mayor Jejomar Erwin “Junjun” Binay was invited as one of the resource persons. Mayor Junjun and his father, Vice President Jejomar Binay were among those accused and charged with plunder and
graft at the Office of the Ombudsman over the unnecessary used of money. The Senate also invited former  Makati Vice  Mayor  Ernesto Mercado. With his exclusion being questioned by the Binays, he attended the hearing and has testified his sworn statement.


The said Senate hearing scheduled at 10 a.m. and although it was expected that it will be attended by Makati Mayor Jejomar Erwin "Junjun" Binay, he had rather sent his representative from his office.

According to Renato Bondal, the lawyer who filed the case against the Binays, the parking building was overpriced by up to 300 percent.

He also included in the complaint that the Makati City Hall and the Makati City Science High School building were also overpriced.

The birthday cakes given by the Makati City government to its senior citizens were also overpriced by around P1,000 each were further alleged by Bondal.

The Binays and the Makati City government have deprived of the allegations.
