MANILA – Japan announced
to remain its ground open for OFWs as they continue to expand companies in the
Philippines. The Philippine manpower which have been providing the Western countries
with highly skilled and motivated workers, are highly considered by Japanese
companies which are now tapping more into the potential
of Filipino engineers and technicians.
Recently, Japanese
manufacturers are endorsing Filipino engineers to work as worldwide leaders as
they build up their "mother factories" in the Philippines. Japan’s mother
factories are accountable for the design of the product and for regulating
production conditions.
Tsuneishi Shipbuilding
Chief Director Kenji Kawano said the aim is to advance Tsuneishi Heavy
Industries (THI) into one of the world's mother factories, and to pass its
expertise to Filipino workers.
Kawano said the company is
sending Filipino hires to Tsuneishi Shipbuilding, a core company of Tsuneishi
group, in Fukuyama. The goal is for them to be trained in Japanese
craftsmanship which eventually promotes engineers from Cebu as instructors in
Tsuneishi factories around the world.
Meanwhile,
Toyota Motor is already
employing Filipino workers for global assignment to address surging demand for
automobiles. Toyota Motor Philippines, a local unit of the Japanese automobile
giant, with its Toyota Motor Philippines School of Technology in Santa Rosa,
Laguna, aimed at preparing Filipino technicians for work in the Japanese carmakers'
factories there and abroad through its two-year program in automobile
expertise.
