Pakistani murdered in Basilan robbery


BASILAN, Philippines - A Pakistani national, identified as Rehman Kan, connected in lending business was murdered Wednesday while his Filipino driver was seriously sored in a robbery hold-up incident near the border of Lamitan City, Basilan, police said.
The police said the victim was temporarily residing in Lamitan and his driver who was critically wounded was identified as Albert Palconit.
Lamitan Police said the victims were aboard their motorcycle to collect money when they were ambushed by unidentified gunmen along the highway in the vicinity of Barangay Sabong and Parangbasak in the outskirts of Lamitan City past 1. p.m.
The police considered citing witnesses’ accounts, said that after robbing the victims, the suspects shot them with caliber a .45 pistol killing Kan on the spot and seriously wounding Palconit.
Police is currently conducting their investigation to determine the amount looted from Kan.
According to eyewitnesses, suspects escaped with toward an unknown direction onboard their getaway motorcycle.
