PHL advanced from 59th to 52nd in Global Competitiveness Index

Despite the dismay of the groups who endorsed the recently junked impeachment complaints against President Aquino, the Palace said that they were given an opportunity to make their case in Congress but their move did not prosper.

"The Committee on Justice of the House, after a thorough review of the allegations in terms of its substance, has dismissed the complaints against the President," Deputy Presidential Spokesperson Abigail Valte said.

"We take note that the process took place with transparency, not just according to the rules, but to give the proponents every opportunity to make their case," she said.

The House of Representatives justice committee on Tuesday scrapped the three impeachment raps sued against President Benigno Aquino III due to its “insufficient in substance.”

With 54-4 in favor of Aquino, the decision to move the case was overwhelmingly voted to junk.

Supposedly, a fourth impeachment rap accused Aquino of sustaining the outlawed Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) in the 2014 budget even after the SC declared as unconstitutional.

However, the complaint failed to reach the floor in time for the committee referral of the first three complaints.

While the first two complaints curtailed from President Aquino’s Disbursement Acceleration Program.
