Aquino Asks For Patience for Law Concerning Bangsamoro Basic Law

MANILA, Philippines (Xinhua) – Giving concern to the Bangsamoro’s region, autonomous rights  President Benigno Aquino III sought yesterday for appreciative thought why it has been taking long to finally come up with a draft of the Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL).
In his fifth State of the Nation Address (SONA) on Monday, Aquino gave a remark which he delivered during the joint session of Congress held at the House of Representatives that the government is currently shaping the proposed Bangsamoro Basic Law.
Aquino pleads to understand the PH congress regarding the said issue. Aquino also stressed the significance of studying every provision that would be contained in the Bangsamoro bill. He said that they will push for a planned measure that is logical, just and satisfactorily to the best of their ability.

President Aquino noted that if the Bangsamoro bill could be endorsed within this year and the plebiscite in the intended Bangsamoro territory could be held, the Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA) could be given one-and-a-half years to show the progressive changes in this area.
The BTA will be headed by the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF), which is recognized as the largest Muslim rebel group who asked for a peace deal with the Philippine government. The passage of the BBL and the creation of a Bangsamoro government are part of the peace agreement.
The president said that the BTA  to rule the Bangsamoro government lies in the status of approval of BBL. If the time to rule to Bangsamoro would be abridged, then the approval of the BBL would also  be deferred.
The MILF and the Government want to hold the first election for the Bangsamoro administration in May 2016, simultaneously with the national and local polls.
