Beijing Insists It Has The Right To Build Islands On Disputed Water

MANILA, Philippines — Amid the growing tensions in South China Sea, Beijing still claimed that it has the right to build Islands in the contested area. Asked  why it has continued building Islands in the disputed area which is also claimed by other Asian countries, Beijing just answered reporters because it has the right to do so.
In BBC’s coverage of the large-scale reclamation work in the waters, China Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Hua Chunying said in the transcription of the press conference on Tuesday that China "declares indisputable sovereignty" over Spratlys group of islands and nearby waters.
"China's activities on relevant islands and reefs of the Nansha Islands fall entirely within China's sovereignty and are totally justifiable," Hua said.
The reporters also asked Hua is the islands being built on the disputed area is for business or military purposes, but she only gave an indirect answer.
"As far as I know, the construction work China does on relevant islands is mainly for the purpose of improving the working and living conditions of people stationed on these islands," Hua said.
Despite the United State’s push for a suspension of  any provoking activities in the disputed strategic waterway, the British media firm on Tuesday released a special report featuring China's Island Factory near the Philippine-claimed Mabini (Johnson South) Reef.
