OTTAWA, (UPI) – Hackers broke the computers at Canada’s National Research Council, this was reported by the Canadian government on Tuesday. It was believed that the hackers were helped by the Chinese government.

Although Canada’s Chief Information Officer, Corrine Charette said on Tuesday that they do not have strong evidence that data negotiations have happened on the broader Government of Canada Network yet CSEC discovered and confirmed a cyber-intrusion on the information technology organization of the National Research Council of Canada.
Charette
further said the council's computers have
been isolated from the wide-ranging network of government computers.
Chinese
hackers previously targeted included governmental offices on Ottawa's
Parliament Hill, the federal Finance Department and the Treasury Board.
