MANILA, Philippines – From 45 percent in
March, satisfaction with the Aquino government fell to a record low net 29
percent. This was the recent result of a
survey conducted by the Social Weather Stations. The SWS nationwide poll found
out that less Filipinos are pleased with the general performance of the
administration – from 65 percent in March to 56 percent in June. The survey was
conducted from June 27 to 30 using face-to-face interviews with 1,200 Filipinos.
Meanwhile, the number of “dissatisfied”
Filipinos increased from 20 percent to 26. The government’s previous lowest
score was 44, recorded in May 2012. MalacaƱang expressed in the result stating that the government cannot be weakened by
surveys.
Presidential spokesman Edwin Lacierda said
the power of President Aquino as the nation’s leader could not be misjudged, as
his administration scored “very good” in 10 out of the 15 surveys since
September 2010.
The Government’s public satisfaction fell in Metro
Manila and balance Luzon to a “moderate” 16 (from 37) and 26 (from 41),
respectively. While it jumped to a “good” 34 from the “very good” 56 in
Mindanao. However, it remained “good” in standing in the Visayas from 45 to
March t0 41.
The satisfaction with the administration’s service
also dropped among those in class D to a record-low “moderate” 27, down by 18
points from a “good” 45 earlier. It similarly fell to “moderate” 27 among those
in class ABC, from the “good” 32 in the first quarter of the year. It also fell
by 10 points, but remained “good” among class E – to 38 from the 48.
The government gained good ratings for the
following concerns, including promoting
welfare of overseas Filipino workers, protecting the environment, providing enough supply
of electricity, protecting the country’s territorial rights through AFP
modernization, foreign relations and serving the poor.
Meanwhile the government was rated “neutral”
in making sure that no family will be hungry.It received “poor” score in
fighting increase and ensuring that oil firms don’t take advantage of oil
prices.The administration obtained a “bad” rating on giving the controversial Maguindanao massacre case
with justice.
Results of the latest SWS poll were printed
in the newspaper BusinessWorld yesterday.
