It appeared on Monday that China has strongly objected
against Koreas government decision to donate two warships that includes a
1,200-ton patrol boat and a landing vessel to the poorly equipped Philippines.
According
to Korean’s Foreign Ministry, a Chinese official at the Chinese Embassy in
Seoul,
South Korea visited the ministry on June 10 questioning the donation after it was reported by the media. The Chinese official has also asked the donation to be canceled. However the reason why the Chinese official’s has asked the warship donation to be canceled was not stated.

Korean’s former Defense Minister Kim Kwan-jin
settled in a meeting on May 30 with his Philippines colleague Voltaire Gazmin to
donate second hand vessels to Philippine navy amid growing tension with
China over the water territorial dispute in the South China Sea. The aging but
still working warship will be free of charge.
Kwang-jin informed Gazmin about the donation when the latter made his
visit to Seoul on May 30 although it was
still unclear if the donation will contain the ship’s weapons system.
China is engaged in a territorial row with
Manila and rest of South Asian countries over islands in the South China Sea.China claims most of South China Sea with
approximately 90 percent of disputed the area. The Philippines has accused its giant neighbor of
using bullying campaigns to enforce its claim such as their plans of building
of lighthouses, beaches and many more .
